I love getting these reports on Wolverine and Rattlesnake reports from the beautiful Methow valley. Because of our nephew, John Rohrer, we are really involved. When we were in Winthrop last May/June I saw a female moose trying to get into the local wine store and my family driver wouldn't stop.....sigh!!!! Aunt Judy

The Methow Valley News ran a story on this capture, too, if anyone is interested in more reading. The photo they chose doesn't seem very flattering, but some more info in the story itself:

Holy... wow.
Wolverines are like unicorns or Ivory-billed woodpeckers to me; amazing creatures with an almost mythical significance, due to fact that we know so little about them. Very cool to know that some of the things few people see actually DO exist.

This post gives me chills of excitement and envy, what an incredible animal to study. I am thankful the for the wildness at is the North Cascades and for continued involvement of the USFS and NPS in the monitoring of such an important forest carnivore.

The presence of wolves and wolverines and perhaps griz in the North Cascades truly defines this place as wild. Thank you for the great account and for all the work you and the others on the wolverine project are doing. All of this seems an incredible intrusion on the life of this wonderful creature, but in this world I guess it has to be done. May Eowyn live long and prosper!
